How to Add B-Roll to Your Video in OneTake AI

OneTake AI gives you two ways to add B-Roll footage to your video. You can enable it automatically through the Customize Video panel and let OneTake AI handle everything, or you can add B-Roll manually to specific moments directly from the script editor. Both methods use high-quality stock footage sourced from Pexels.

Method 1 — Automatic B-Roll via Customize Video

This method lets OneTake AI automatically select and place B-Roll footage throughout your entire video based on your content. It requires no manual selection and is the fastest way to add B-Roll to a video.

  1. Open your video project in OneTake AI
  2. Click Customize Video in the top right panel
  3. Scroll down and click B-Roll to expand the section
  4. Toggle on Add B-Roll clips to this video
  5. If you want this setting applied to every future video you create, check Apply this setting to all my future videos
  6. OneTake AI will immediately begin processing and you will see a progress bar with the message "Adding B-Roll footages to your video..."
  7. Once the progress bar completes, B-Roll clips will be inserted throughout your video at the moments OneTake AI identified as most relevant

Method 2 — Manual B-Roll via the Script Editor

This method gives you precise control over exactly where B-Roll appears and which footage is used. You select the specific moment in your script where you want B-Roll and choose the clip yourself.

Accessing the B-Roll Tool in the Script

  1. Open your video project in OneTake AI
  2. Click Edit Script in the top right panel
  3. Your full video transcript will appear as editable text
  4. Hover over the section of text where you want to add B-Roll
  5. A small toolbar will appear above that section of text
  6. Click B-Roll in the toolbar
  7. The Add B-Roll modal will open with three options: Upload, AI Prompt, and Library

Upload

Use this option when you have your own footage you want to insert at that moment. This could be product shots, behind the scenes clips, location footage, or any custom video file stored on your device. Click Upload and select the file from your device to add it directly to that point in your video.

AI Prompt

Use this option when you want OneTake AI to find the right footage for you based on a description. Type what you want to see in the Video Prompt field. Be specific and descriptive for the best results. For example you might type "person working on laptop in a coffee shop", "team collaborating around a whiteboard", or "close up of hands packaging a product". Once you have entered your description click Generate and OneTake AI will search the Pexels library and return the best matching footage for your prompt.

Library

Use this option when you want to browse and search the Pexels stock footage library yourself. Type keywords into the search bar to find specific clips, or browse the results that appear automatically. Before selecting a clip you can filter the results by orientation to make sure the footage matches your video format:

Best Fit automatically selects the orientation that matches your video format. This is the recommended option for most users.

Landscape shows horizontal footage. Use this when your video is in standard widescreen format for YouTube, course platforms, or websites.

Portrait shows vertical footage. Use this when your video is in vertical format for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, or TikTok.

Once you find the clip you want to use, click Add Clip to insert it at the selected point in your script.

Using Both Methods Together

Automatic and manual B-Roll are not mutually exclusive. You can enable automatic B-Roll from the Customize Video panel to populate your video quickly, and then go into the Script Editor to replace specific clips at individual moments where you want different footage or your own uploaded content. This gives you the speed of automation with the precision of manual control where it matters most.
