What Is Video Translation in OneTake?

Video translation in OneTake allows you to create a new language version of an existing video by changing the spoken audio, not just the text on screen. When a translation is created, OneTake generates a dubbed version of your video in the selected language. The original video remains unchanged. Each translated version exists as its own entry under the same project.

How translation works in OneTake

When you translate a video in OneTake, the platform:

  • Uses your original video as the base
  • Converts the spoken audio into another language
  • Produces a new video with dubbed audio in the selected language
  • Keeps the same visuals, edits, pacing, and structure as the original video

This means translation is not a text-only process. It affects the spoken content of the video.

Voice usage during translation

By default, OneTake uses your pre-recorded voice to dub the translated version of the video.

This requires:

  • A recorded voice sample
  • Clear audio quality
  • A consistent speaking style

The translated video will sound like your voice speaking the target language.

If you choose dynamic voice cloning, OneTake assigns generated voices to speakers instead of using your own voice. This option also requires a good-quality voice sample.

What translation creates

Each translation results in:

  • A new video version
  • A new language label
  • Its own processing status
  • Independent sharing and export options

Translations do not overwrite or replace the original video.

Translation vs subtitles

Translation in OneTake is different from subtitles.

  • Translation changes the spoken language
  • Subtitles only display text on screen
  • Translation produces a dubbed video
  • Subtitles do not change the audio
If you want viewers to hear the video in another language, translation is required.

Where translations are managed

Translations are managed inside the project editor:

  • Open a project
  • Click Translations in the top toolbar
  • View existing translations
  • Create new translations
  • Track processing status

Each translated version appears in the list with its language and status.

Processing and status

When a translation is created, it goes through these states:

  • Queued – waiting to be processed
  • Processing – translation is being generated
  • Published – translation is complete and available
Processing time depends on video length and system load. You do not need to keep the editor open while processing.

Plan and usage considerations

  • Translation availability depends on your subscription plan
  • Translation minutes are consumed per translated video
  • Each language counts as a separate translation
  • Voice quality directly affects translation quality

What translation does not do

Video translation in OneTake does not:

  • Add subtitles automatically
  • Change visuals or layouts
  • Modify branding or styles
  • Replace the original video
It only changes the spoken language while keeping the rest of the video intact.
