Can I Add Clickable Links in My OneTake Video?

Yes — but whether links are clickable depends on how you share your video. This article explains exactly when links work, when they don't, and how to use them correctly in OneTake AI.

MP4 is a standard video file format. By design, MP4 files do not support clickable links inside the video itself. This is a format limitation — not something OneTake or any other platform can change.

When a video is exported as an MP4 file and uploaded to an external platform:

  • The link text will be visible on screen
  • The link cannot be clicked by the viewer
  • Viewers would need to manually copy and type the link to visit it

This applies to all major video platforms including YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and standard desktop or mobile video players.

To keep links fully clickable, your video must be played through the OneTake Player rather than exported as an MP4.

When a video is hosted and shared using the OneTake Player:

  • All links added to the video remain fully clickable
  • Viewers can click links directly while watching
  • No MP4 download or external platform is needed

The OneTake Player works on blogs, landing pages, membership sites, LMS platforms, course pages, and any website where you can paste a link or embed code.

Option 1 — Share a Direct Link

Copy the OneTake hosted video link from Share & Publish and share it directly. Anyone opening the link watches the video in the OneTake Player with all links remaining clickable.

Option 2 — Embed the Player

Use the embed code from Share & Publish → Embed the Player → Copy Code to place the OneTake Player directly on your website or platform. Embedded videos preserve all clickable links.

What Happens If You Export and Upload as MP4

If you download the MP4 file and upload it to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or any other external host — clickable links inside the video will not work. This is expected behavior and applies to all platforms that play standard MP4 files.

If clickable links are required, always use the OneTake Player via a shared link or embed code.

OneTake AI also allows you to add clickable links directly in the video description. These links appear on the hosted video page and remain clickable when shared via the OneTake Player.

Where to find it:

  1. Open your video project
  2. Click Customize Video in the top right panel
  3. Scroll to Video Details
  4. Click into the Description field — a rich text editor will open
  5. Use the link icon in the editor toolbar to add a clickable hyperlink
  6. Format and style the link text as needed
  7. Click Save changes

The description supports full rich text formatting including bold, italic, underline, lists, and clickable links.

Note: Check Always write my project details in this style at the bottom of the Video Details panel if you want this format applied to all future videos automatically.
